Drum Circle Facilitator/Educator/Clinician - DCM Certified Drum Circle Facilitator

Jeff Stewart currently teaches instrumental music with the Rainbow Public School system where he runs jazz ensembles, concert band and world drum/percussion ensembles. His school ensembles have been competing at a National level receiving several silver awards at Music Fest Canada and have performed at venues such as the CN Tower. Over the years, Jeff has also taught privately, run various percussion clinics (Percussive Arts Society, Laurentian University) and taught a third year percussion class at Cambrian College. Drum Circle Venues

 

Jeff facilitates drum circles in his community and at music festivals such as the Northern Lights Festival, Summerfest, Afro-Caribbean Festival, African Cabaret, Black History Month and Festival of Friends-Hamilton. He has also done drum circle workshop clinics for the Rainbow Public School Board Music Task Force Teacher Workshops, Laurentian Hospital Rehab Center, ICAN (Independence Centre and Network), Northern Lights Group Home, United Way and at the Ontario Music Educators Association Conferences.


 

In July of 2005 Jeff also facilitated “The Spirit of World Drumming Workshops” for the participants at the XV World Transplant Games held in London, Ontario.


 

Jeff’s Sudbury World Community Drum Circle performed as the opening act for the CTV Lion’s Club Children’s Christmas Telethon (Live Television). They have also performed at Cancer Relay Walk for Life, Science North Canada Day, Dragon Boat Races, Drum Corps International (dci) “Spectacle for Sound”, Organ Donor Awareness, Shave for the Cure for Cancer Research, Earth Day and have been the opening act for Latin Bands playing concerts at the Caruso Club and Respect is Burning.


 

Jeff is facilitating “The Spirit of World Drumming Circles” with his community at large for music educators, drumming enthusiasts and within the healthcare system.


Freelance Work

 

Besides being a prominent music educator and clinician Jeff also performs professionally. Jeff has led his own jazz ensemble “Solar Jazz Ensemble” who have performed at various functions and music festivals. Jeff has also been the primary drummer/percussionist for the Mauricio Montecinos Latin Band and has performed at a variety of music festivals in Ontario, CBC live radio and television sessions. Since 1994 Jeff has performed on live television for the CTV Lions Club Telethon as permanent percussionist in the house band. Jeff has also collaborated with famous native visual artist/poet William R. Morin combining music, poetry and world drumming.

Jeff Stewart has also studied privately with legendary drummers/percussionists such as Doug Sole-Soul Drums (Drum Circle mentor), Christine Stevens-UpBeat Drums (Drum Circle mentor), Paul DeLong, Rick Gratton, Memo Acevedo (currently teaching at New York University of Music), Roger Flock and Don Vickery (Humber College), Jack Broumpton (Laurentian University), Tony Azzopardi, Rick Lazar (Montuno Police, The Samba Squad, Toronto, ON), Ed Thigpen (Oscar Peterson, Oliver Jones).
